Another Busy Night...

Well! We accomplished a lot tonight - not sure how, but we did it!
We started our night out by covering the 'Poisoning' section of the St. John Ambulance 'We Can Help' training. From there we moved into presenting badges to those Cubs who have completed Outdoor Adventure Skills Badges (Aquatic Skills 1) as well as presentations by those Cubs who have completed Personal Achievement Badges. Congratulations to those Cubs that walked away with Badges tonight! For those who didn't, keep in mind that in order to earn your badges you have to complete the necessary work or show the necessary skills!
We also introduced a competition to the pack. With National Flag Of Canada Day around the corner (February 15) we have extended a challenge to the Pack to submit ideas for a Pack Flag. These entries must be recieved by February 7 to be eligible. We will chose the winning design on February 14. The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate for The Scout Shop, a certificate, and a flag of their own. Feel free to contact a Scouter if you have questions.
We ended the night by talking a little about our upcoming Winter Camp and going over some of the skills and adventures that we will be working on while we are there.
Now.... while I prefer to keep these messages positive and informative, I feel it is prudent to speak frankly for a moment. With tonight being our first 'formal' meeting back since the Christmas Break some shenanigans are to be expected. While we are all for each and every Cub having fun at our meetings, we also expect them to be respectful, and when necessary, put on their best listening ears. Our goal is to offer a full program that will teach and motivate the Cubs to always do their best. As I echoed a couple of times to the pack tonight - while fun is expected we do ask that every Cub be respectful when someone is talking - ESPECIALLY in the horseshoe. The more time we have to spend addressing these issues, the less time we have to deliver the program that we have planned for the night. We want each and every Cub to remember and live by the Cub Scout Law, "The Cub Respects The Old Wolf, The Cub Respects Themself."
Until next week, Good Hunting,
~ Akela
